Tea Tree and Charcoal Sea Clay Mask is a face mask designed to gently exfoliate, deeply clean pores and impurities and reduce bacteria that can lead to breakouts. Tea tree, activated charcoal, sea clay, bentonite clay, almond oil and avocado oil are all blended with a gentle cream soap base to clean and detoxify your skin and leave it soft and glowing.
Activated charcoal. The manufacture of activated charcoal makes it extremely adsorbent, allowing it to bind to molecules, ions, or atoms. Making activated charcoal involves heating carbon-rich materials, such as wood, peat, coconut shells, or sawdust, to very high temperatures. This process also reduces the size of the pores in the charcoal and makes more holes in each molecule, therefore, increasing its overall surface area. Researchers have reported that activated charcoal can help draw microparticles, such as dirt, dust, chemicals, toxins, and bacteria, to the surface of the skin, to make removing them easier.
Calcium bentonite is considered an absorbent clay because when water is added the molecular structure swells with the additional water molecules, due to this swelling it makes a great clay to trap impurities found on the skin. Calcium bentonite can absorb negatively charged ions and acts as a detoxifying agent
Sea clay. It originates from mud formed under the sea millions of years ago and has a grayish green color. Sea clay has great absorption properties, which makes it perfect for oily skin. Dead sea clay is rich in iron, aluminum, potassium, and calcium; providing your skin with rich nutrients. Dead sea clay helps remove toxins from the skin, provides gentle exfoliation, and helps remove dead skin cells.
Tea tree. Tea tree oil is derived from the leaves of the tea tree. The tea tree was named by eighteenth century sailors, who made tea that smelled like nutmeg from the leaves of the tree growing on the swampy southeast Australian coast. Tea tree oil is applied to the skin (used topically) for infections such as acne, fungal infections and a local antiseptic for cuts and abrasions.
Avocado oil is a natural source of beta carotene, lecithin, oleic acid, and vitamins A, D, and E which help moisturize and protect skin from damaging UV rays, increase collagen metabolism and decrease redness. Studies have shown that the use of avocado oil on skin can increase collagen production, renew skin cells and speed up wound healing.
